The recent “golden week” National Day holiday saw consumer spending surge for the nation's most popular online services including Ant Group's Alipay, Tencent Holdings' WeChat Pay, Meituan, ByteDance-owned Douyin, Tripcom and Alibaba Group Holding's travel-booking platform Fliggy.

Rival mobile payment services providers Alipay and WeChat Pay both saw high demand during "golden week", as their users' expenditure soared at home and abroad.
