So weird and interesting visiting Shanghai (a city I used to call home) post its citywide lockdown, it’s like going back to hometown knowing no one. Most of my friends either have left for good or for holiday (for a good reason).
Can’t imagine how this city will recover and reinvent itself in a year or longer, a city which used to attract creatives and dreamers because of the anything’s possible soil, now replaced by patrols all the time. (These walls of colours are not art installations, they’re reflections from the police car lights. 🚓🚥
Although it has only been a month and half since the lift of lockdown, people seem to already have forgotten or moved on with their lives. Clubs, bars, restaurants, retails stores are already back to businesses. Not all of them, but it’s a great start hopefully for the rebirth.
